Fiji Chicken Casserole

3 pound frying chicken -- cut up
butter or oil
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Preheat oven to 350.
Recipe
1. Wash chicken quickly under cold water. Dry well.
2. Grease a large skillet with oil or butter. Place cut-up chicken in skillet, skin side up.
3. Combine soups and pour on top of chicken. Sprinkle in curry powder and garlic powder (optional). Stir soups around until all flavors blend and chicken pieces are completely covered with the mixture.
4. Cover skillet. Bake on center rack of oven for 1 1/2 hours. For the last 1/2 hour of cooking time, remove skillet lid to brown.
