    Hamburger Casserole

    List of Ingredients




    3 lbs. ground beef (or ground chuck/ground round, if you prefer)
    1 large pkg. wide egg noodles
    1 large green pepper, chopped
    1 large fresh onion, chopped
    3-4 stalks celery, chopped
    1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
    1 can condensed tomato soup, undiluted
    1 can condensed vegetable soup, undiluted
    2 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1 c. Parmesan cheese (shaker can)
    1 c. mozzarella cheese, shredded

    Cook noodles; drain and set aside. Add green pepper, celery and onion; cook until tender. Add all 3 cans of soup; do not dilute. Cook on low heat until hot. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In broiler-size pan or deep baking pan (approximately 18-by-12-by-2 inches), light spray with nonstick cooking spray. Spread noodles across pan bottom, then spread meat mixture over noodles. Shake Parmesan cheese all across top; layer with mozzarella cheese and then Cheddar cheese to cover all. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until cheese is golden brown. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes to let flavors mix. Makes 9-12 (3-inch) cut squares. Serve with tossed salad and breadsticks or garlic bread.
    Cook's notes: If any is left over, freeze for one of those "busy" days or "midnight" snack. Can also add 2 small cans chopped mushrooms. Go ahead - experiment with different ideas and/or layer in a smaller pan, like lasagna. GREAT meal and CHEAP!
