5th Grade Spicy Chili

Recipe Introduction
This recipe appeared in the January 18th, 1987 issue of NY's Newsday's Kidsday section. My fifth grade class was the class selected for this Sunday's edition of that newspaper. Of course my contribution was a chili recipe. My recipe has evolved a little, but this was a good start.
List of Ingredients
2 tablespoons oil
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 cup onion
1/2 cup green pepper
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1-pound can kidney beans, drained
2 1-pound can plum tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons chili powderRecipe
Heat oil in a large pot. Add chopped garlic, onion, and green pepper. Saute until onion is light brown. Add ground beef and cook until brown. Stir in kidney beans, and rest of ingredients. Simmer uncovered 1 hour.
