    2 cups dried red kidney beans
    6 cloves garlic, crushed
    2 onions, chopped
    2 green peppers, chopped
    2 tbsp. chili powder
    1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
    15 oz. canned tomatoes,broken up
    2 cups tomato sauce
    2 tbps. tamari sauce
    5 cups water

    Recipe



    Place beans and water in a large pot. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer
    over low heat for 1 hour. Add remaining ingredients, continue to cook
    over low heat for an additional 2 hours. May be cooked longer than 3
    hours if desired. This makes the beans softer and allows flavors to
    blend more. Bean cooking time may be reduced by soaking the beans
    overnight.
