Heinz Classic Chili Con Carne

1 tbsp (15 mL) vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp (15 mL) chili powder
1 tsp (5 mL) crushed red pepper flakes
2 lbs (1 kg) ground beef, turkey or chicken
1 1/2 cups (375 mL) Heinz Tomato Juice
1 cup (250 mL) Heinz Tomato Ketchup
1 can (541 mL) Heinz Red Kidney Beans, drained and rinsed
1/4 cup (50 mL) sour cream
1 green onion, choppedRecipe
HEAT oil in a skillet set over medium heat. Add the onion and green pepper and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic, chili powder and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1 minute.
CRUMBLE in the meat and brown well. Stir in the tomato juice, ketchup and all but 1/2 cup (125 mL) of the beans. Mash remaining beans and stir into meat mixture. Simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Garnish with sour cream and onions. Makes 4 servings.
