WITHROW'S CHILI

List of Ingredients
2 cups dry pinto beans
Water
Tallow (guess lard will do)
3 large chopped onions
3 chopped green peppers
2 lbs ground beef, browned and drained
1 quart tomato juice
2 tsp chili powder (I use lots more)
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp cumin seeds or powder
2 tsp oregano Recipe
Place pinto beans in heavy, deep saucepan. Add enough water to cover. Simmer, uncovered for 1 1/2 hours. Slowly fry tallow in skillet until 1 cup of oil has been rendered. Add this and the remaining ingredients to the pinto beans, mix thoroughly. Simmer, uncovered, 3 hours. You can add cornstarch to thicken if you like.
