Chef Theo's Pumpkin-Face Chili

1 can red kidney beans
1 can garbanzo beans
1/2 # ground beef
1/2 pound ground sausage
1/2 medium onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 can beef broth
3 cans chopped tomatoes
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons cumin
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Recipe
One package of puff pastry
In a stock pot over med-high heat, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until onion is soft. Add beef and sausage. Add all spices (cumin-cayenne) mix well. Saute for 3 minutes. Meat will not be cooked.
Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer for about an hour.
Place puff pastry on a floured work surface, and using your soup bowl as a guide, cut a circle. Give a circle to each guest to create their own “pumpkin face” Place on a cookie sheet and bake according to the pastry box instructions.
Fill bowls with chili and top with the “face”
