List of Ingredients
olive oil, for frying
8 sausages
1 onion, roughly chopped
1 garlic glove, finely chopped
400g can chopped tomatoes
1 vegetable or meat stock cube, broken into 250ml/9fl oz boiling water
1 tsp chilli sauce
1 tsp crushed chillies
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp beef extract
1 tsp brown sauce
200g can kidney beans, drained
salt and freshly ground pepper

1. Heat the olive oil in a pan over a moderate heat and brown the sausages. When they are two thirds brown, add the onion and continue to fry gently. When the sausages are thoroughly cooked, cut each one into 4-5 pieces, and return them to the pan.
2. When the onion is soft, add the remaining ingredients to the pan. Bring it to the boil, cover and leave it to simmer for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add more chilli sauce to taste, if required and serve.
