    1st Place winner in the "TASTE OF SARASOTA" Dessert contest.

    List of Ingredients




    6 egg yolks
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    2 cups milk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    dash nutmeg

    Recipe



    Beat together egg yolks, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, and nutmeg to mix.Scald milk and pour into egg mixture. Stir in vanilla.In a small iron skillet, caramelize the other 1/2 cup of sugar. pour a little into 6 custard cups. When caramel sets pour custard mixture into cups.Set cups into pan of hot water 1 inch deep. Bake in preheated oven at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes or until silver knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean.allow to cool. Unmold and serve. 6 servings .
