3 large bananas
5 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cream, whipped
1/4 cup dry sherry
1 tsp vanilla

Peel and slice the bananas lengthwise, sauté in a little butter until light brown. Drain and place in a shallow cake pan. Whip cream with the sugar (saving about one tablespoon) plus the sherry and vanilla. Sprinkle a thin layer of sugar over the bananas and then spread over the whipped cream. Chill for at least one hour and serve cold.
Serves 4.
