List of Ingredients
2 Cups Water
1 Cup Dessert Wine or Apple Juice
1/4 Cup Fine Granulated Sugar
2 Tbsp. Honey
1/2 Tsp. Saffron
1/2 Tsp. Vanilla Extract or 1/2 of one vanilla bean, split
Bartlett Pears
Recipe
Combine water, wine, sugar, honey, saffron and vanilla. Bring to a boil in a medium size sauce pan and simmer for minutes.
Peel the pears and cut into halves. Scoop out the core with a melon baller or teaspoon. Add the pears to the boiling syrup and simmer for 10 minutes or until tender. Remove from heat and allow to cool in the syrup, preferably overnight, as this will intensify the color.
Serve with ice cream, whipped cream, fresh fruits.
Preferred would be a Brown Sugar Ice Cream
