    Mashed okra - upper Egyptian style

    List of Ingredients




    1 pound beef
    2 cups meat stock
    2 ¼ pounds okra
    2 hot chili peppers, finely chopped
    5 garlic cloves
    1 tsp ground coriander
    cooking oil
    salt & pepper

    Recipe



    Cut beef into small cubes and boil in meat stock for 20-30 minutes, or until tender. Remove from broth and add okra and peppers. Cook for about 10 minutes, then mash with a fork. Return meat to mashed okra in cooking pot. Prepare ta’liya using only 5 garlic cloves and add to cooking pot. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
