Recipe Introduction
Sauteed Ground Pork & Green Bell Peppers Over Linguine
You can serve the sauce right after you make it, but it's really best if you let it sit overnight. For a snack or appetizer, try spooning the chilled sauce into lettuce leaf wrappers. Pretty endive leaves with their slightly bitter taste add a fancier touch.
List of Ingredients
1 pound linguine
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 green bell pepper, stemmed, seeded, deribbed and chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 green onions, trimmed and chopped
1/3 pound ground pork
1 tablespoon Asian sesame oil
1 tablespoon sake
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup medium miso paste
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
1/2 cup chicken stock Recipe
Start preparing the linguine according to package instructions.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the green pepper, garlic and green onions and saute until bright in color, about 2 minutes. Add the pork to the pan and cook until the meat is light brown and liquid is released from the bell pepper, about 8 minutes.
Mix together the sesame oil, sake, sugar, miso paste, ginger and chicken stock, stirring until smooth. Pour into the skillet and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve over the hot, cooked linguine.
