Recipe Introduction
An American dinner classic made special by the addition of garam masala and a tropical barbecue sauce. Ground chicken or turkey can also be substituted for the beef. (Yes, I know the spicing is more Indian than Singaporean. But I like this name better!)
Makes 4-6 servings
List of Ingredients
1 lb Ground beef
1 cup Seasoned bread crumbs
1 Egg, beaten
1/3 cup Ketchup
1/4 cup Onions, finely diced
2 tsp Garam masala
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1/4 cup Tropical BBQ sauce*
*Add any fruit juice frozen concentrate, fresh fruit juice (e.g. mango or papaya) or even fruit cocktail syrup, to your favorite BBQ sauceRecipe
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, ketchup, onions, garam masala and nutmeg together. Mix together until thoroughly blended. Form into a loaf shape and place in a glass casserole dish.
Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then baste the top of the meatloaf with a prepared tropical BBQ sauce and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables
