Recipe Introduction
(Serves 5)
List of Ingredients
1 small onion, cut into wedges
3 fresh red chili peppers, seeded (may substitute dried peppers, soak in water 1/2 hour prior to using)
1 clove garlic, peeled
1 thin slice ginger
3/4 pound Norbest Ground Turkey
1 large carrot, grated
1 turnip, grated
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
10 egg roll wrappers
Cooking oil for deep-fat frying
Recipe
In food processor fitted with a steel blade, combine onion, chili peppers, garlic, and ginger; process until almost smooth. Set aside. In skillet, combine ground turkey, carrot, turnip, and salt. Cook on high heat until turkey is browned and no longer pink, stirring frequently. Drain off liquid. Stir in onion mixture. Remove from heat; stir in egg. Place egg roll wrapper with one point toward you on clean, flat surface. Spoon 1/4 cup of filling diagonally across and just below center of wrapper. Fold bottom point of wrapper over filling; tuck point into filling. Fold side corner over, forming an envelope shape. Roll up toward remaining corner; moisten point and press to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. Fry bundles in deep-fat oil for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper toweling. Serve with Chinese mustard, sweet and sour sauce, or chili sauce.
