Cable Car Tuna Casserole

6 oz. vermicelli, cooked al dente and drained
2 7-oz cans solid white tuna, drained and flaked
1 cup chopped celery
1/3 cup chopped red pepper
1/3 cup sliced water chestnuts
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup mayo
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. salt
1 10 1/2 - oz can cream of celery soup
1/2 cup milk
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1/4 cup sliced onions Recipe
Preheat oven to 425F. In a 2-quart casserole combine vermicelli, thyme and salt. Set aside. Mix together the soup and milk in a saucepan and heat, stirring constantly, until smooth. Add tuna, celery, pepper, water chestnuts, onion, mayo and 3/4 cup cheese. Heat and stir until cheese is melted. Add cheese sauce to casserole and mix thoroughly. Sprinkle top with remaining cheese and almonds. Bake 20mins until bubbly and slightly browned.
