    1 lb burger, cooked

    1 onion, chop/saute

    1/2 cup celery, chop/saute

    3 med. potatoes, cubed

    4 carrots, sliced

    1/2 cup cabbage, shredded (opt)

    1/4 cup barley

    14 oz can tomatoes

    14 oz can tomato sauce

    6 cups water + 2 tsp salt

    2 bay leaves and parsley/pepper corns

    (or 1/4 tsp each basil & thyme)

    Recipe



    Put all in a large pot, except fresh vegetables. Simmer one hour. Add vegetables and simmer, covered, one hour or until vegetables are tender. Substitute: any vegetables you may have handy, instead of barley use rice or macaroni (cook these only last 20 minutes before serving).
