1 ½ pounds haricot beans
2 tablespoons chopped onion
½ ounces cooking fat or dripping
4 ounces oatmeal
½ pint water
2 teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
2 ounces chopped meat or sausage meat or bacon
Browned breadcrumbsRecipe
1. Fry the onion in the fat until lightly browned.
2. Work in the oatmeal, add the water gradually and bring to the boil stirring all the time.
3. Cook for 10 to 15 mins, stirring frequently.
4. Add the seasoning and the chopped meat, sausage or bacon.
5. Mix well and spread on a plate and cool.
6. Divide into 8 portions and roll into sausage shapes. (These may be prepared the previous day).
7. Coat with browned bread crumbs and either fry in a little hot fat or can grill.
