Recipe Introduction
f your guests want to eat a real dessert, this one is dirt-like and rugged -- and delicious. You will need a deep serving dish to hold the pudding-like sauce.
List of Ingredients
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
2/3 cup cold milk
3 ½ tablespoons butter, melted
4 squares semi-sweet chocolate
1 ¾ cups hot milk
Grease a loaf pan and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Recipe
Mix the flour and ¾ cup brown sugar with ¼ cup cocoa powder. Beat in the milk and melted butter. Break the chocolate into rough pieces and stir into the mixture. Pour into the loaf pan.
Sprinkle remaining ¼ cup brown sugar and ¼ cup cocoa powder over the batter. Pour the hot milk over the mixture. Place the loaf pan in a shallow roasting pan, and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is ready when the top feels crusty.
To serve, carefully turn the whole thing out into a deep serving dish. Serve hot with cream or ice cream, if desired.
