small jar of whole sweet pickles, quarter pickles lengthwise
    flour, salt and pepper
    2 cans beef broth
    2 beef boullion cubes
    1 T au jus mix
    garlic powder
    2 T gravy master

    Recipe

Cut steaks in 3 to 4 inch wide strips and pound. Place 1 bacon strip on top of steak followed by an onion slice and pickle quarter. Roll up and secure with tooth picks. Dust rolls in a flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Brown floured rolls in a hot dutch oven or roasting pan, with about 2 to 3 T hot oil. Combine beef broth, boullion and gravy master in a roasting pan with drippings. Add meat and bake for 2 to 3 hours at 300 degrees. this makes a nice rich gravy and fork tender meat. Serve with potatoes that have been mashed with ranch dressing, a little milk and butter, steamed asparagus with butter, fresh lemon juice and grated parmesean cheese. This recipe will serve 6 hungry firemen one large meal at noon with enough leftovers for a small meal in the evening. the recipe can be cut in half.
