    Sweet & Sour Chunk Pickles

    Wash and cut into 1-inch chunks, enough medium-sized
    cucumbers to fit 4 sterilized quart jars.
    To each jar add:

    3 onion slices
    2 celery stalks
    2 dill heads, and part of stem
    2 garlic cloves (optional)

    Set jars in warm water.

    Dissolve together in a pan:

    4 C. sugar
    1/2 C. salt
    1 quart vinegar
    1 pint water

    Bring to a boil and then pour into jars. Seal.
