Recipe Introduction
Makes 4 servings
Do not crisp the already-cooked bacon before adding it to the pizza. It will become crisp as the pizza bakes. You may also use regular bacon cooked to the not-quite-crisp stage before adding it to the pizza.
List of Ingredients
1 large (12 inches) partially baked pizza crust, such as Boboli
½ cup commercially prepared Alfredo sauce, regular or light
2 teaspoons bottled, minced garlic
¼ small sweet onion, such as Vidalia (for about ¼ cup minced)
½ large green bell pepper (for about ¾ cup chopped)
1 can (6.5 ounces) minced or chopped clams
5 slices already-cooked bacon (see note)
½ cup grated parmesan cheese Recipe
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place the pizza crust on an ungreased baking sheet. Use the back of a spoon to spread the Alfredo sauce over the crust in a thin layer, leaving about one inch of the edge around the pizza plain.
Sprinkle the garlic evenly over the sauce. Peel and finely mince the onion, and sprinkle it evenly over the pizza. Remove any seeds from the pepper half, and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle them evenly.
Drain juice from clams (reserving the juice for another use, if desired). Set aside. Use a chef's knife to chop the bacon into bite-size pieces. Scatter the clams, bacon pieces and parmesan cheese evenly over the pizza.
Bake until the crust begins to brown and crisp slightly, about 12 to 14 minutes. Slice the pizza, and serve.
