    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    2 large garlic cloves, minced
    1 12-ounce bottle chili sauce
    3/4 cup beer
    1/4 cup unsulfured (light) molasses
    3 tablespoons cider vinegar
    3 tablespoons bourbon whiskey
    1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco)

    Heat oil in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and
    garlic; saute until tender, about 8 minutes. Reduce heat. Add chili
    sauce, beer, molasses, vinegar, bourbon and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer
    until reduced to 2 cups, stirring occasionally, about 25 minutes. Stir
    in hot pepper sauce. (can be made up to 1 month ahead. Cover; chill.)
    Makes about 2 cups.
