    Servings: 3 cups

    List of Ingredients




    3 cups beef broth or stock
    16-ounce can tomato paste
    1/2 cup Dijon mustard
    1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 cup white vinegar
    1 cup, packed, brown sugar
    2 tablespoons chili powder
    1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
    2 tablespoons liquid smoke

    Recipe



    Combine all of the ingredients in a heavy saucepan, set over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat to very low and simmer the mixture for 11/2 to 2 hours, until it is rich and thick. Stir now and then and if it seems to be reducing too quickly, add water,1/4 cup at a time, and adjust the heat.
    Remove from the heat and cool. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
