    Independence Day Firecracker Sauce

    3 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 medium onion, peeled and thinly sliced
    4 cloves garlic, chopped
    1 cup orange juice
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    6 tablespoons red wine vinegar
    1/2 cup water
    1/4 cup honey
    1/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
    2 tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring
    3 tablespoons finely chopped ginger
    2 to 4 drops Tabasco sauce
    2 tablespoons chili powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 tablespoon dry mustard

    Recipe



    In medium saucepan, heat oil and cook onion until clear but not brown. Add
    garlic and cook for 1 minute, stirring. Add remaining ingredients and bring
    to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 1 hour.

    Stir often. Sauce should be thick and smooth. Remove and discard onion and
    garlic with slotted spoon. Cool and refrigerate. This will keep for 2 weeks
    in the refrigerator.

    Makes 5 cups
