DON'S FAVORITE COLD WINTER NIGHT'S MEAL

List of Ingredients
1 bay leaf
4 whole allspice
1 (10 3/4-oz.) can condensed consomme
1 1/2 c. dry red wine
1 can whole small onions, (or frozen)
1 can mushrooms
2 T. brandy
3 lbs. stew beef
3 T. butter or fat
2 T. flour
2-4 carrots, peeled & diced
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 T. parsley, chopped
1 pinch Thyme
Recipe
In heavy pan slowly brown meat all over in butter (or fat). Sprinkle flour over meat, stir well and add carrots, onion, garlic, parsley, thyme, bay leaf, allspice, consomme, and red wine. Bring to a boil, then turn heat on low and simmer 2-3 hours. Stir frequently. Ten minutes before eating add small onions, mushrooms and stir in brandy.
Note: Don never like cold weather but actually looked forward to it, in a way, so I would make this.
