4 smoked ham hocks or smoked turkey wings
2 yellow onions, diced, divided
2 cloves garlic, divided
5 tablespoons Morton's Nature's Seasoning Blend, divided
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon garlic powder with parsley, divided
4 tablespoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt, divided
1 pound frozen speckled butter beans
1 pound frozen crowder peas
1 pound frozen black-eyed peas
1 pound frozen baby lima beans
Crushed red pepper to taste
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 pound frozen okraRecipe
In a deep pot place the ham hocks, 1 diced onion and 1 garlic clove; cover with water almost to the top of the pot. Add 3 tablespoons Nature's Seasoning Blend, 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 2 tablespoons seasoned salt. Cook, covered, until fork tender, 2 to 3 hours.
In the meantime, in a separate pot place the butter beans, crowder peas, black-eyed peas, lima beans, second onion, second garlic clove, 2 tablespoons Nature's Seasoning, 2 tablespoons seasoned salt, 2 tablespoons garlic powder, the red pepper and the sugar. Cover with water almost to the top of the pot and cook, covered, about 1 hour, or until beans are tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Add okra and cook 5 to 10 minutes. Drain off most of liquid from the pot.
Remove ham hocks from pot and cut meat from bones. Return meat to pot with beans, stir to combine and serve.
Serves six to eight.
