5 ounces bacon, or about 5 strips, chopped into 1-inch pieces
7-pound can baked beans
1/4 cup brown sugar
11/2 teaspoons dry mustard
2 teaspoons distilled vinegar
1/3 cup black molasses
3/4 cup tomato ketchupRecipe
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Fry bacon over medium heat until it is crisp. Pat dry with paper towels and crumble into small pieces.
Mix beans with bacon pieces and remaining ingredients. Bake in 9-by-13-inch casserole dish about 45 minutes, or until thoroughly warmed. Be careful of spills when removing the dish from the oven; the beans are soupy when warm and this recipe fills the dish almost to the top.
Serves about 16.
