    Recipe Introduction

Many thanks to Karen Brand of the Tampa Bay Convention & Visitors Center for providing this sandwich recipe from La Segunda Deli and Sangria recipe from the Columbia Restaurant located in Tampa, Florida.

    List of Ingredients

1 loaf French baguette bread ( since Cuban-style bread is not readily available in this area, Karen suggested the French baguette)
    Spicy yellow mustard as desired
Thinly sliced fully-cooked smoked ham as desired, about 8 ounces (see note)
Thinly sliced roasted pork loin as desired, about 8 ounces (see note)
Thinly sliced Genoa salami as desired, about 8 ounces
Thinly sliced Swiss cheese as desired, about 8 ounces
Dill pickle slices as desired for garnish
    Sangria

    Recipe

With a sharp serrated knife, cut baguette in half lengthwise. Spread cut surfaces of baguette liberally with mustard. In order, layer ham, pork loin, salami, and cheese atop the bottom half of the baguette. Place top half of baguette over meat/cheese layers. Place bageutte in a sandwich press or in a large heavy skillet over moderate heat May need to cut baguette into two or three sections in order to fit into sandwich press or skillet. Heat until cheese has melted, turning sandwich or sandwich sections occasionally as needed. Garnish with dill pickle slices and serve immediately with a glass of Sangria.

Note: Use a regular-style fully-cooked smoked ham. Prepare your own ham and roast pork loin or use fully-cooked smoked ham available in the Deli section of Kroger. Roast pork loing in a preheated moderate oven (350 degrees F.) until internal temperature of pork loin registers 160 to 165 degrees F. when a meat thermometer is inserted in the center of the pork loin. May wish to baste pork loin with orange juice and coat with Caribbean spice mix in the Cuban manner.
