Recipe Introduction
This is a great way to cook up some of those green beans you have been growing in your garden. Or it makes a great excuse to take your Harley for a tour of all the farm stands within a day’s ride of your home – like you really need an excuse to ride.
List of Ingredients
¼ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
¼ cup water
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 jalapeño, seeded and thinly sliced
1 medium-size onion, cut into matchsticks
2 cloves garlic, elephant if you can find it, thinly sliced
1 cup fresh green beans cut into 2-inch piecesRecipe
1. In a small heatproof bowl, combine the sugar, salt, black pepper, ginger, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce and water and stir well. Heat in a microwave oven on half power for 30 seconds or in a small saucepan over medium heat, stir well, and set aside.
2. Heat the olive oil in a medium-size skillet over high heat. Add the jalapeño and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Add the green beans and cook, stirring, until the onion begins to brown, about 2 minutes. Add the sauce, stir well, cover, remove from heat, and allow to steam for 2 minutes.
3. Stir well to get any of the tasty browned bits off the bottom of the pan and serve immediately.
