Orange Poppy Seed Scones

* 2 1/4 cups flour
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/4 cup poppy seed
* 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
* 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1/4 cup orange juice
* 1 large egg
* 1 teaspoon orange peel
Recipe
Preheat oven to 375.
Mix all dry ingredients together in food processor bowl. Add butter and pulse until mixture resembles cornmeal.
Beat egg slightly into orange juice; add liquid mixture to dry mix and gently shape dough into a ball.
Cut ball in half and pat each half into a circle about 1/2 inch thick, 8" in diameter. Cut into wedges and place on baking sheet.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.
(I cut them into 12 wedges each.)
