Rich Chocolate Brownies

350g /12 1/2 oz good quality plain dark chocolate
200g/7 oz butter
200g/7 oz dark muscovado sugar
3 large organic eggs
80g/2 3/4 oz plain flour, sifted
1 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
100g/3 1/2 oz hazelnuts, roughly chopped, or walnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts
Recipe
Preheat oven to 170°/325°F/gas 3
Melt the chocolate and butter together in a bowl over a pan of simmering water or in the microwave.
Beat the sugar and eggs together in a bowl and stir in the chocolate mixture, then fold in the sifted flour, baking powder, salt and nuts.
Pour the mixture into the mould and bake for 35 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly, then very carefully remove from the mould and slice into squares.
