List of Ingredients
1/2 plus 1 tablespoon butter flavored shortening, melted
1 cup oats
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 (14-ounce) can Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 (12-ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350°. Combine 1/2 cup shortening, oats, sugar, flour, nuts and baking soda. Press firmly on bottom of greased 13x9-inch pan. Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
Meanwhile, in medium saucepan, combine remaining 1 tablespoon shortening and Eagle Brand®. Over medium heat, cook and stir rapidly until mixture bubbles and thickens slightly, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and pour over prepared crust.
Return to oven, bake 15 minutes longer or until golden brown. Remove from oven; immediately sprinkle chips on top. Let stand 1 minute; spread while still warm.
Cool. Chill 15 minutes. Cut into bars. Store tightly covered at room temperature.
