    Base Dough
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg
    1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
    1/3 cup molasses
    3/4 cup sugar
    1 egg

    Orange Glazed Cakes
    1 cup confectioners' sugar
    2 tablespoons orange juice
    Candied orange peel

    Recipe



    1. For base dough, combine flour, baking soda, and spices in bowl, set aside. Stir together butter, molasses, sugar, and egg. Stir in dry ingredients. Heat oven to 325 degrees F.

    2. For Orange Glazed Cakes, grease 2 mini-muffin pans (24 cups). Drop half of the dough by rounded teaspoon into cups. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until just firm. Remove from pan and cool upside down on wire rack.

    3. To make icing for cakes stir juice into confectioners' sugar until smooth. Drizzle over upside-down mini-cakes. Decorate with candied peel. Makes 24 cakes.
