    List of Ingredients




    2/3 cup hot water
    1/2 cup cut-up dates
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    Chocolate Chip-Nut Topping (See Below)
    1/3 cup vegetable oil
    1 egg
    1 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    1/4 teaspoon salt

    Recipe



    1. Heat oven to 350ºF. Pour hot water over dates in medium bowl; stir in 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Let stand 5 minutes. Make Chocolate Chip-Nut Topping.
    2. Stir remaining ingredients into date mixture. Pour into ungreased square pan, 8x8x2 inches. Sprinkle with topping.
    3. Bake about 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack.

    Chocolate Chip-Nut Topping



    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
    2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

    1. Mix all ingredients.
