Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 3/4 - cups all-purpose flour
1/3 – cup cocoa
1 – teaspoon baking soda
1/4 - teaspoon salt
1 – cup butter, softened
3/4 - cup sugar
3/4 - cup light brown sugar, packed
1 – teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 – eggs
12 ounces - semi-sweet chocolate
1 – cup slivered almonds
Recipe
I preheat my oven to 375° F.
In a large mixing bowl, I sift my flour, coca, baking soda and salt.
In a mixer at medium speed, I beat in the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until mixture become creamy.
Next, I add the eggs and continue to beat until well.
Then I gradually add in the flour mixture and continue to beat until well.
Next step is to add in the chocolate. I just mix until mixed through the batter.
Then I mix in the almonds and mix until mixed through the batter.
Using a teaspoon, I make a round spoonful of dough and drop onto ungreased cookie sheets. I want the dough around 2 inches apart.
I pop the cookie sheets into the oven and bake for 8 minutes or until set. I allow them to cool about a minute before removing from cookie sheet.
Finally, I remove from cookie sheets and allow them to cool on a wired rack.
Makes about 5 dozen.
