    Caramel brownie slice

    Source of Recipe

Submitted by Leah Newling, Killcare, NSW

    List of Ingredients

    90g margarine, melted
    1½ cups caster sugar
    ¾ cup plain flour
    ½ cup self-raising flour
    ½ cup cocoa powder
    3 egg-whites, lightly beaten
    1 x 380g can Nestle Top'n'Fill Caramel
    Extra ¼ cup plain flour
    Icing-sugar mixture to decorate

    Recipe

    1. Grease a 20cm x 30cm lamington pan; line base and two long sides with baking paper, extending paper 2cm above edges of pan.

    2. Place margarine and sugar in a large bowl; stir until combined. Stir in sifted flours and cocoa, then egg-whites. Divide mixture in half. Press one half over base of prepared pan.

    3. Cook in a moderate oven, 180C, for 15 minutes. Spread caramel over hot base.

    4. Add extra flour to remaining cocoa mixture; stir until mixture forms a crumble. Sprinkle evenly over caramel; return to oven.

    5. Cook for a further 20 minutes, or until topping is firm. Cool slice in pan. Using a hot knife, cut into squares; dust with sifted icing-sugar mixture.
