    1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
    3/4 cup granulated sugar
    1/2 cup Packed light brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/7 tsp baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk*
    1 cup vanilla milk chips
    1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Recipe



    Heat oven to 350F. In large mixer bowl beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg and vanilla extract until well blended. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Stir in 1 cup each vanilla and chocolate chips. Measure by 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet; bake 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

    Makes about 20 cookies.

    *To sour milk: Use 1-1/2 tsp vinegar plus milk to equal 1/2 cup.
