    250g unsalted butter
    1½ cups brown sugar
    ½ cup golden syrup
    2 cups plain flour
    1 tablespoon ground ginger
    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    pinch of cloves
    1 teaspoon baking powder

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 140°C (120°C for fan forced). Grease and line a baking sheet.

    Beat together butter and sugar until pale and creamy. Fold through the golden syrup and sift in remaining ingredients.

    Place tablespoons of mixture onto the prepared tray, leaving room for them to spread. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden. Cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
