Catalan Tomato Toast

8 slices rye, sourdough or country-style bread
4 large tomatoes, halved (or more to taste)
Salt + pepper to taste
Olive oil to tasteRecipe
Toast bread. Rub cut side of 1/2 tomato over each slice, pressing firmly to push pulp, seeds and juice into bread. If desired, use more tomatoes. Discard tomato skins and remaining pulp. Sprinkle each slice with salt and pepper. Drizzle each slice with oil.
