Recipe Introduction
December 13th
Melt in a small saucepan:
½ cup butter
Stir in:
¾ cup warm milk
1/3 cup sugar
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
In a large mixer bowl, dissolve:
1 package of yeast
¼ cup warm water (110°F.)
Add and mix until well blended, then beat 2 minutes at medium speed:
Cooled butter mixture
1 egg
2 cups flour
Gradually beat in to make a stiff dough:
1-1/2 cups flour
Turn dough out onto floured board and knead until smooth, about 10 minutes, adding flour as necessary to prevent sticking.
Place dough in greased bowl, flip and cover. Let rise until it’s doubled in bulk, about 1-1/2 hours.
Punch down dough and knead briefly. Divide dough into 30 pieces and roll into pencil shape. Coil ends forming an “S” shape. Indent raisins into coils.
Place 2” apart on greased sheets, cover and let rise until puffy (about 45 minutes).
Bake 375°F. for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Ice lightly.
