6 large cucumbers,sliced
4 onions,sliced
1/4 cup pickling salt
1 pint white vinegar( 2 cups)
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. mustard seedRecipe
Place in large earthenware bowl the cucumbers,onions and salt.Let stand 1 hour.Drain thoroughtly in colander.Do not rinse.Pack in sterilized jars.Place the vinegar,sugar,celery seed and mustard seed in saicepan,bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes after the sugar is dissolved.Pour hot vinegar mixture over vegetable,to overflow.Seal immediately.Let cool and store in dark cool place.
Makes about 6 pints.
