Recipe Introduction
I love sourdough anything! This is your starter which starts it all.
List of Ingredients
2 C. Flour
2 C. Warm Water
1 pkg. Dry Yeast
Recipe
Make this starter only when you have forgotten to save a starter or you're making it for the first time.
Combine ingredients and mix well. Place in a warm place or closed cabinet overnight. In the morning, put 1/2 C. of the starter in a scaled pint jar with a tight lid and store in the fridge for future use. This is a "Sourdough Starter".
The remaining batter can be used immed. for pancakes, waffles, muffins, bread, cake, etc...
To use the starter again, place it in a medium bowl and add 2 C. milk and 2 C. flour and beat it well. Set in a warm place overnight to develop. In the morning the batter will have gained 1/2 again it's bulk and be covered with air bubbles. It will have a pleasantly yeasty odor. Now, set aside your 1/2 C. sponge in the fridge jar for your starter next time.
Repeat this each time you want to use it.
