    2 C. Flour
    2 t. baking powder
    1/2 t. salt
    2/3 C. shortening
    1/3-1/2 C. milk

    Filling;

    6-8 Apples, peeled and cut into thin slices
    1/2 t. cinnamon\
    1/4 t. nutmeg
    3/4 C. brown sugar

    Syrup:

    1/2 C. brown sugar
    1/2 C. sugar
    2 C. water
    1/2 C. Butter

    Recipe



    Mix together the flour, b. powder, and salt. Cut in the shortening lightly with fingers.
    Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the milk gradually while mixing lightly. Knead lightly into a ball and roll into a rectangle shape about 1/4" thick and cut into 6 pieces.

    Mix the filling ingredients and add to the apples. Divide between the 6 squares of dough. Dot each square w/1T. butter. Bring corners of dough together, pinching to seal.

    Mix the syrup ingredients and make a syrup by bringing to boil over med. heat in saucepan.
    While still hot pour over the dumplings and bake at 350' for 1 hour or apples are done.
