Boiled Custard Ice Cream

List of Ingredients
1 gallon whole milk
5 Tbls. cornstarch
3 1/2 cups sugar
6 eggs
vanillaRecipe
Scald milk.
Mix cornstarch and sugar, dampen with small amount of milk.
Add eggs on at a time, beat after adding each egg.
Add cornstarch mixture to scalded milk, cook until slightly thickened
Add 1 1/2 cans of evaporated milk (large)
Add mashed fruit if desired and vanilla to taste before freezing.
Pour into freezer container to freeze.
Makes 6 quarts.
