Poppy Seed Lemon Bread

- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cups milk
- 1 cup softened butter
- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
- Glaze:
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of loaf pans. Combine all bread ingredients. Beat at medium speed until well mixed, 2 to 3 minutes. Pour into pans and bake for 32 to 40 minutes. Mix glaze ingredients and pour over warm bread. Cool 10 minutes. Loosen edges with knife; remove from pan.
