Gram's Chocolate Drop Cookies with Icing

We have eaten dozens and dozens of these over the years. We used to make ourselves half sick at Christmas when we were kids. The sifting is important in this recipe
List of Ingredients
1 stick margarine or butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 3/4 cup flour, sifted once then measure
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Shiny Icing:
1 square unsweetened chocolate
1 tsp. butter or margarine
2 1/2 Tbs. boiling water
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
Recipe
Cream butter and sugar together well. Add egg and incorporate. Beat in chocolate. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Beat just until combined. Stir in nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
For the icing, melt over hot water, the chocolate and butter. Remove from heat and stir in boiling water. Add powdered sugar and beat until smooth but not stiff. It should be soft enough to drip slightly over edges of cookies. Drizzle over cookies.
