    An old German recipe.

    List of Ingredients




    in a bowl have ready:
    5 lbs flour minus 2 cups
    2 tbsp cinnamon
    1 tbsp cloves
    1 tbsp nutmeg
    1 tbsp allspice
    2-1/2 to 3 tsp salt
    4 tsp baking soda

    Heat in a sauce pan, stirring constantly-
    1/2 alternately butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 pint molasses
    1 pint honey
    4-1/2 c brown sugar

    When sugar is dissolved add
    1 pint sour cream

    In a LARGE bowl beat 5 eggs and add to honey mixture. Then add dry ingredients alternately with-
    5 cups finely chopped nuts
    1/4 lb citron
    1/4 lb lemon peel
    1/4 lb orange peel
    mix well, (we break wooden spoons on this recipe all the time. best way is to wash up and get your hands in it.) Chill overnight, roll out, cut in squares and bake 10-12 minutes 375°
