Pickles, Russian Style
List of Ingredients
1 gallon pickling cucumbers
2-4 cloves garlic
4 Tablespoons Kosher Salt
Fresh Dill sprigs
3 dried small red chiles
Water, as required to fill gallon jar. You can use smaller quart size jars alsoRecipe
Wash cucumbers, cut off both ends.
Mash garlic and place on the bottom of the class jar or crock.
Fill jar with the cucumbers, dill sprigs and dried chile.
Bring water and salt to a boil, then allow to cool to room temperature.
Pour over the cucumbers in jar or crock and place a dish on top with a weight to hold down the pickles.
The pickles will become sour by fermentation ( do not add vinegar.) They are ready to eat in 3 days. After 5 days, pickles should be placed in the fridge.
These are wonderful tasting pickles.
