Gingerbread Boys & Girls

Recipe Introduction
This is the best recipe, they are yummy...if I don't make gingerbread men I usually make logs and dip one end half way with melted white chocolate and roll in red and green sugar crystals!
List of Ingredients
1 cup shortening
5 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp ginger
1 egg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup molasses (light)
1 tsp ground cloves
2 tbsp vinegar
Recipe
Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar, soda and salt.
Stir in egg, molasses and vinegar.
Sift dry ingredients together and stir in molasses mixture.
Chill thoroughly (about 3 hrs)
On lightly floured surface roll dough 1/8 inch thickness.
Cut out with gingerbread boy cutter or draw your own pattern.
Place 1 inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Use red-hots for face and buttons.
Bake at 375 about 6 mins. & Cool slightly.
Remove from cookie sheet.
When completely cool, pipe on trim of powdered sugar frosting.
Makes about 5 doz.
